Days 3 and 4

AKA "Carla is not keeping up with this!"

These are Mr. Bear (used in a creative way) assignment #3. This time I used Mr. Bear to hold a rose (from my Valentine's bouquet). I spent more time making sure I had the effect I wanted before taking a photo so that I could stick with the guidelines of the actual assignment.

I had to take a photo of him actually holding the rose (I used a rubber band to hold the hands together).

Then day 4 I lost Mr. Bear. He is somewhere in the kids bedroom, and since those are a mess I'm not sure when I will find him again. If anyone is going to pick one object to shoot for an entire week, it's probably best not to choose a favorite toy of your child. Just a thought. So, here I decided to capture that bouquet I got from Dh.

Mr. Bear - shilouette

Okay, I have to admit, I took 3 shots of Mr. Bear today. I wanted a shilouette, and the first shot I had a lovely perfectly exposed bear. Just a beautiful portrait of Mr. Bear. OOPS!

The 2nd shot, was almost exactly like the above except it had a little hand and "hook" as helpers for me. After explaing to my son that I didn't need his hands in the photo I finally got the above. Not totally what I was going for, but fairly close. I then took some cute mostly perfectly exposed photos of my son being silly (not going to share here though).

Later in the day, I caught my cat up from his daily snooze (it lasts practically all day so this is a rarity to see him up and about). Doing the 365 photo challenge means that I have a camera out, loaded with CF cards for shooting on, and a fully charged battery. It means that I captures some everyday photos of my children, and got a few of the cat as well! I think I'm going to like this challenge until it comes time to scrapbook 2007.

Meet Disney Bear

I am going to work on creativity and learning more about this passion of mine, so I have challenged myself to a 365 Photo Challenge. I will attempt to post here daily for the next year. Also, this first week will be doing an assignment as well, so you get to see Disney Bear for a full week. Hope you enjoy!!

Chinese New Year

I had the honor to take the portraits of some darling little girls (and boys too this year) at the FCC group's Chinese New Year celebration. All of them are just adorable and we had fun celebrating the Year of the Pig.

I did not remember to get model releases from the families so I am unable to share images here that I took of them. Just imagine all the adorable little girls dressed in traditional Chinese dress.

I did get some images that I can share (non-face showing shots).

Are you ready for spring?

I know that I am. I'm ready for warm weather for bicycle riding, flying kites, playing baseball, and flowers. What I am not ready for is how busy my family will be this spring with baseball, karate, swimming lessons, and ending the school year. Like you, I will need to find a time to get those spring portraits of the boys. Last year I took some of them at the Botanical Gardens, and while I still love doing photos there I think this year I am going to try and find a new location for my own kids.

I am looking forward to taking action photos again of those little baseball players, especially because I have a new lens that will make it much more fun for me. I understand not everyone gets all excited for different lenses, but trust me, I am excited to have a new lens to play with. It's quite pretty to me, but it's main appeal is that it is a faster lens so hopefully I can get even better images of your kids playing that great American sport of baseball.

I have also purchased some software that I think will greatly help us all out with the action photos - viewing, ordering, distribution. I truly appreciate all of the hard work that the team moms have put into helping me with action photos. I hope all of you will like the new software as much as I do.

On that note, if you are interested in having me do action photos of your child/team, I will typically be booked for those early season Saturdays right after the schedules come out. One team last year had me do their team photos before a game they had scheduled with me to do action photos. That really worked out well for all involved.

In other spring related news, I am currently booked for February (but can work something out for a newborn) and am starting to book for other months (May is getting filled quickly). For weddings, May is currently booked.
